Glamour, speed, the unmistakable sound of racing engines and the excitement of championship-deciding battles. The Cascais Weekend Grand Finale promises to bring together everything that makes Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica such a special competition, turning the historic Autódromo do Estoril into the centre of the Porsche Motorsport universe.
The final round of the 2026 season features an expanded grid of 15 cars, including 14 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars of the 992.1 generation and one 991.2-generation entry, bringing together experienced drivers, young talents, eagerly awaited returns and debuts that add even more interest to the competition. And while the Overall, Category 2 and Silver Class titles have already been decided, the battle for race victories promises to be every bit as intense as the fight for the remaining trophies.
The favourites aim to end the season on a high
After a dominant season, GT Corse arrives at Estoril as the championship’s benchmark team. In the #14 Porsche, Spaniards Alejandro Barambio Perea and Borja García Menéndez have already secured their titles, but will undoubtedly be determined to extend the outstanding run of results that saw them clinch the Overall, Category 2 and Silver Class championships ahead of the final round. The Spanish outfit is also the clear favourite to secure the Teams’ Cup, the last major collective objective of an exceptionally successful season.
However, the champions will face rivals determined to prevent a triumphant farewell. Among the leading contenders for race victories is Manuel Alves, who returns to Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica for the Grand Finale at the wheel of LOB Motorsport&’s #68 Porsche. Patrick Cunha, driving the #8 Porsche for Veloso Motorsport, is also expected to play a leading role. Having demonstrated in Navarra that he has the pace to challenge for outright victories, the Portuguese driver arrives at the final round as the leading favourite for the Bronze Class title, now sharing the car with a new teammate, Paulo Macedo.
The fight for the leading positions will also feature the young pairing of Duarte Camelo and Henrique Cruz in LOB Motorsport’s #19 Porsche, a duo with the potential to challenge at the front. Another driver to watch is Chloe Grant, who will share AF Motorsport’s #22 Porsche with Tomas Slootweg, combining ambition with competitive potential. The experience of Miguel Lobo and Mário Ferreira in RGB Racing Team’s #28 Porsche could also prove valuable on a circuit as demanding as Estoril.
Major returns and international debuts strengthen the grid
One of the biggest stories of the Grand Finale is the return of NACentE Racing, which rejoins the championship with the #4 Porsche, driven by the returning Kevin King and debutant Dane Cornish. Monteiros Competições also returns to the series, fielding the #33 Porsche for debutant João Faria and Jorge Brioso, strengthening the Portuguese presence at the final round of the season. GT Corse adds an intriguing international dimension to its line-up. Alongside the champions #14 Porsche, the Spanish team enters an all-Argentinian pairing in the #27 Porsche, with Camilo Tomas and Genaro Trappa making their debut as a duo and promising to add further competitiveness to the grid.
LMR Motorsport is also using the Grand Finale to begin preparations for 2027. In the #91 Porsche, Brazilian driver Leandro Martins will team up with Austria’s Dieter Svepes, forming a strong pairing that could provide valuable indications for next season.
The list of newcomers also includes Pedro Martins, making his debut in the #96 Porsche, while the #15 Porsche will be shared by Spaniards Asier Gorostiza Telleria and Diego Carrascal Vega. In Category 1, the return of Filipe Carvalho in Veloso Motorsport’s #23 Porsche 991.2 adds another point of interest, as he will be the only representative of this generation on the entry list.
Ladies Cup set for a nail-biting title showdown
If the battle for outright race victories promises excitement, the Ladies Cup title fight has all the ingredients to become one of the weekend’s biggest highlights. Three drivers arrive at Estoril with a chance of claiming the title: Britain’s Chloe Grant in AF Motorsport’s #22 Porsche, Finland’s Flame Airikkala in the same team’s #67 Porsche, and Portugal’s Francisca “Kika” Queiroz in LOB Motorsport’s #95 Porsche will go head- to-head in a showdown certain to capture the attention of the paddock and spectators alike.
With different backgrounds, driving styles and racing experience, all three share one ambition: to finish the season at the top of the Ladies Cup standings. The title decider also highlights the growing importance of female participation in Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, one of the characteristics that has increasingly distinguished the championship within Porsche’s one-make racing landscape.
Four races and excitement until the final chequered flag
The Grand Finale’s sporting programme begins on Friday, 30 October, with private testing and two free practice sessions at 14:15 and 16:30. On Saturday, 31 October, two qualifying sessions will take place at 10:10 and 12:30, followed by the opening race of the weekend at 14:20. Sunday, 1 November, promises to be particularly intense, with three decisive races. Race 2 starts at 11:20, while the final two races are scheduled for 14:30 and 15:10, officially bringing the 2026 season to a close.
All four races will run for 20 minutes plus one lap, with standing starts for the first two and rolling starts for the remaining races. The official programme includes live television coverage of every race on V+ TVI, alongside three streaming platforms: Braking Zone TV (Brazil), Parc Fermé (Italy) and MTD Motorsport Deutchland (Germany).
