Estoril hosts decisive round with record number of entries.

The Estoril Circuit will host the sixth and final round of the 2020 Porsche Sprint Challenge Iberia on November 22nd and 23rd, in an edition that promises to be historic. The Cascais Porsche SCI Grand Finale concludes a season marked by balance, excitement, and a clear qualitative leap in competitiveness. This round brings together the largest ever PSCI field, with twenty-six drivers from four continents and twelve different countries, in a mix of season regulars, highly anticipated returns, and international debuts of great interest.

Category 2: A “knockout” between Manuel Alves and Dylan Pereira

In Category 2, reserved for the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, the focus will naturally be on the duel that has defined the entire season: Manuel Alves, from LOB Motorsport, arrives at Estoril in the absolute lead with 250 points, closely followed by the Portuguese-Luxembourgish driver Dylan Pereira, who has 244 points at the wheel of the AF & V Motorsport Porsche he shares with André Fernandes. The difference between them is only six points and, with fifty points still to be awarded in the two Sprint Races and the Endurance race, everything will be decided on the Estoril track. LOB Motorsport also presents Francisca Queiroz, who will simultaneously be a protagonist in the fight for the overall top 10 and in the almost guaranteed defense of the Ladies Cup title.

The Category 2 field is reinforced by several pairs and solo drivers. Filipe Nascimento returns to the wheel of the Porsche he shares with João Macedo e Silva, while Manuel Chinchilla and Alexandre Martins join forces in an all-Portuguese duo. Monteiros Competições presents a particularly interesting lineup, with the debut of Briton Kevin King, the return of Portuguese drivers Luís and Diogo Rocha, and the presence of Canadian Brieana Macdonald, who has been consistently improving throughout the season.

GT Corse arrives with three cars: the Porsche of Asier Gorostiza and Sacha Hebrard Barucq, the Porsche of Alejandro Barambio Perea and Borja García – a duo that has already won Endurance races this season, with García also having tasted the nectar of victory in a Sprint – and the car driven by Portuguese driver Tiago Gonçalves and Brazilian Bruno Zouani, in a highly anticipated PSCI debut. AF & V Motorsport fields two strong teams: in addition to the aforementioned car of Fernandes and Pereira, they are joined by the duo of José Barros and Nuno Batista, who have been competitive in both sprint and endurance races.

RGB Racing Team is once again relying on the strong pace of its two Spanish drivers, Daniel Garcia and Jorge Ramirez, both capable of consistently challenging for the top positions. LMR Motorsport is represented by the Portuguese-Brazilian Leandro Martins, who returns to PSCI after successfully participating in international races in various GT championships, and by the debut of Austrian Dieter Svepes, a Pro-AM driver who is generating considerable interest and is potentially one of the contenders for victories. Escuderia Faraon also debuts in the championship, bringing in Briton Jonathan Eisworth and Chinese driver Ruiqi Liu. Finally, Skualo Competición presents the Porsche driven by Dutchman Henk Van Zoest and Portuguese driver Filipe Carvalho.

Pablo Hernández on the verge of the title in a highly competitive Category 1

In Category 1, where the Porsche 991 GT3 Cup is contested, Spaniard Pablo Hernández, from Fenix Racing, arrives at the decisive round as the main contender for the title, with 244 points. His main rivals are the drivers from Monteiros Competições: Nuno Inocêncio, with 190 points, and Alexandre Fonseca, who shares his car with Mário Ferreira and currently has 165 points.

Monteiros presents a broad cast that also includes the experienced Rui Miritta, the Spaniard María Sánchez Iglesias, who will share the Porsche with Laura Camps, and Chloe Grant’s Porsche, now joined by the international debut of Alexia Danielsson, a young Swedish driver of only 16 years old who has already shone in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia. Also returning to the Category 1 field are Luís and Vasco Barros, representing LOB Motorsport, reinforcing the competitive depth of the class in this final round.

Team Cup, Ladies Cup and Classes promise exciting decisions

In the Ladies Cup, Francisca Queiroz arrives in Estoril practically crowned champion, with 270 points after an impeccable season. The battle for second place promises to be intense between María Sánchez Iglesias, with 174 points, and the British rider Chloe Grant, who has 162 after a brilliant weekend in Jerez. The final round will also feature the Canadian Brieana Macdonald, who has been consistently improving and is assuming an increasingly influential role in the women’s field, potentially directly impacting the fight for immediate positions and even influencing the battle for the runner-up title. With the additional entry of Laura Camps and the Swedish rider Alexia Danielsson, Estoril presents the most international and competitive women’s grid ever in the PSCI.

In the Classes, the decision will be equally exciting. In the Pro-AM class, Manuel Alves leads with 175 points, closely followed by Dylan Pereira with 169 and Alejandro Barambio with 153, keeping the uncertainty alive until the very last meter. In the AM class, André Fernandes leads with 179 points, but Jorge Ramirez is only eighteen points behind and keeps his hopes alive. In the GD class, Daniel Garcia comfortably leads with 159 points, emerging as an almost confirmed title contender, followed by Asier Gorostiza and Rui Miritta. In the Teams’ Cup, the competition promises to be equally intense. LOB Motorsport arrives at Estoril in the lead with 103 points, a result of Manuel Alves’ consistent competitive performance.

Right behind them is AF & V Motorsport, with 95 points, presenting a very strong team for the decisive round, with the duos André Fernandes / Dylan Pereira and José Barros / Nuno Batista in excellent form. GT Corse is in third place with 78 points, after a season marked by Endurance victories and high-level individual performances from Alejandro Barambio and Borja García.

In addition to the competition, Estoril will host the largest Porsche Meeting ever held in Portugal. The initiative — open to all Porsche owners upon prior registration — promises to transform the paddock and the surrounding area of the racetrack into a unique celebration of Porsche heritage and culture, bringing together classic, historic, modern GTs and super sports cars of the brand.
