Francisco Mora repeated the “pole position” of the previous day and this Sunday morning secured the right to start from the top position on the grid for the second race of the third round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, at the Spanish circuit of Navarra. Until now, the Veloso Motorsport driver maintains an indisputable superiority on the track in the Basque Country and is the favorite to add another victory in this afternoon’s race, for which he will have Pedro Salvador at his side, while behind, in the second row, Manuel Alves start and José Barros.
As on the previous day, Mora established his reference time (1.41.874) and did not need to try to raise the bar, as none of his direct opponents managed to reach the “second 41”. Salvador was still the one who put in the most effort, but ended up 0.729s behind, beating Alves by 4 hundredths.
Young José Barros was in evidence, winning the fourth absolute time and first in the AM category, but he already knows that he will not have an easy race, as he was penalized by the sports commissioners with a “drive through” (passing through the pits) following the incident with Vasco Barros in the first race. Ricardo Costa, the second fastest, will be the main candidate to repeat the victory of the first race, although he will have to face strong opposition from the Spaniard Jorge Ramirez.
In the GD category, Aloísio Monteiro, still somewhat annoyed with the “touches” suffered in the first race that made it impossible for him to discuss the first place, added another “pole”, seconded, with little difference, by the British Chris Hillaby, while Rui Miritta, even without the car at the maximum of its potential, it was a considerable difference.
It should be noted that the second race in Navarra will be broadcast in live streaming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CrV8QtXQ-0), from 13:05 (Portuguese time), on the Youtube channel of Porsche Sporint Challenge Iberica.
