Portuguese driver wins with authority, Ramírez and Barros complete the podium. Nuno Inocêncio triumphs in Category 1 and Francisca Queiroz shines again in the Ladies Cup.
The Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica 2025 opened the fourth round of the season at Circuito de Navarra, in Los Arcos, with a Sprint Race 1 dominated from start to finish by Manuel Alves (LOB Motorsport). The Portuguese driver started from pole determined, and on the very first lap took the lead, building an impressive gap of almost three seconds that quickly became unreachable for his rivals.
Without mistakes and setting a crushing pace, Alves consistently lapped in the 1:47s, finishing more than 10 seconds ahead of the pursuers. It was an authoritative display that reinforces his status as a title contender in Category 2 and confirms the excellent form of the LOB Motorsport driver.
Behind Alves, the race was much more intense. Jorge Ramírez (RGB Racing Team) secured second place, which he had taken on the opening lap after overtaking Alejandro Barambio (GT Corse), while resisting constant pressure for several laps from José Barros (AF&V Motorsport), the young Portuguese driver who ended less than half a second behind the Spaniard.
Frenchman Sacha Barucq (GT Corse) finished fourth after a consistent race, always glued to Ramírez and Barros, followed by André Fernandes (AF&V Motorsport). Meanwhile, Alejandro Barambio (GT Corse) was unable to maintain the pace and slipped back to 6th. The overall top 10 was completed by Daniel Garcia (RGB Racing Team), Henk Van Zoest (Skualo Competición), Gian Maria Traverson (RGB Racing Team) and Francisca Queiroz (LOB Motorsport).
Category 1: Misfortune for Miritta, victory for Inocêncio
In Category 1, reserved for Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup cars, the highlight was the misfortune of Rui Miritta (Monteiros Competições). The Portuguese driver from Valongo was leading the race, but a technical problem forced him into the pits and ruined his result.
Nuno Inocêncio (Monteiros Competições) took full advantage, moving into the lead and never looking back, securing an important victory that strengthens his championship lead. Spaniard Pablo Hernández (Fenix Racing) finished 2nd and Maria Sánchez Iglesias (Monteiros Competições) climbed onto the third step of the podium, with the young Spaniard consolidating her strong progress this season.
Ladies Cup: Francisca Queiroz in winning mode
In the Ladies Cup, Francisca Queiroz (LOB Motorsport) once again imposed herself with authority. The young Portuguese driver finished in a brilliant 10th place overall and claimed another clear victory, further extending her lead in the women’s standings. Behind her came Maria Sánchez Iglesias and Canadian Brieana Macdonald (Monteiros Competições), who successfully completed her international debut.
Action continues this Sunday with Sprint Race 2 (11:05) and the Endurance Race (14:40), both of which promise even more excitement and changes in the championship standings. (Spanish time zone; Portugal –1 hour).
