Circuito de Navarra provided the stage for a weekend of triumph for GT Corse. The Spanish team left the fifth and penultimate round of the 2026 Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica having secured three titles with one round still to go, as Alejandro Barambio and Borja GarcÃa confirmed an outstanding season at the wheel of the No. 14 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup.
The numbers from Navarra underline the scale of this achievement: GT Corse claimed four pole positions, three wins from four races and one podium finish. But GT Corse’s celebrations were far from the only story of an action-packed Sunday at Los Arcos.
Patrick Cunha claimed his first victory of the season in a breathtaking race, Chloe Grant and Jordi Fuset once again established themselves among the leading contenders in the overall standings, and Morten Stromsted completed a dream debut by winning all four Category 1 races.
Race 2: Borja GarcÃa dominates as Chloe Grant shines and Fuset confirms his impressive form
Sunday’s action began with a commanding display from Borja Garcà a. Starting Race 2 from pole position, the Valencian driver immediately took the lead and controlled all 13 laps from start to finish, crossing the line 9.130 seconds ahead of Chloe Grant. He also set the fastest lap, a 1:47.104, confirming a pace that none of his rivals could match. The young British AF Motorsport driver delivered an outstanding performance, taking the No. 22 Porsche to second place overall and securing a convincing Ladies Cup victory.
Grant maintained a comfortable margin over her pursuers, confirming the competitiveness she had already shown in qualifying. Jordi Fuset completed the podium, extending the excellent run of results he has produced since making his championship debut at Jerez. The Spanish Real Peñ a Motorista Vizcaya driver finished third, 13.476 seconds behind the winner, further establishing himself as one of the key contenders in the closing stages of the season.
Diego Carrascal Vega secured fourth place ahead of Morten Stromsted, who once again won Category 1. Luàs Calheiros, making his debut at the Navarra round in the No. 8 Veloso Motorsport Porsche, completed the top six.
The race also featured several battles throughout the field, particularly the fight between Francisca “Kika” Queiroz and Flame Airikkala, who were contesting positions in the overall classification as well as second place in the Ladies Cup. While putting pressure on the Portuguese driver, Airikkala made contact with the rear of the No. 95 Porsche under braking, spun and dropped to tenth place.
The young Finn recovered to eighth, finishing third in the Ladies Cup. “Kika” Queiroz finished seventh overall and second in the women’s classification after receiving two penalties totalling ten seconds for track-limits infringements.
Race 3: Patrick Cunha wins thrilling duel in a race featuring two starts
The third race of the weekend delivered one of the most intense and dramatic moments of the PSCI’s visit to Navarra. Driving the No. 8 Veloso Motorsport Porsche, Patrick Cunha produced a determined performance to defeat Alejandro Barambio in a race featuring two starts and a battle for the lead that continued until the finish.
The Portuguese driver made an excellent initial start, overtaking pole-sitter Barambio and immediately taking the lead. However, during the opening lap, contact between Tomas Slootweg and Henk Van Zoest triggered a spectacular accident, with the Skualo Competició n Porsche rolling over and coming to rest on the circuit.
Race Control was forced to stop the race with a red flag, allowing the car to be recovered and the track to be cleared. Fortunately, the incident caused no physical injuries to the driver. Once safe racing conditions had been restored, the field lined up again in its original grid order, following the Safety Car before a second start. And Patrick Cunha once again proved the strongest.
The Portuguese driver repeated his excellent move from the initial start, passing Alejandro Barambio again and taking a lead he would never relinquish. An intense duel followed between the two drivers, with Miguel Lobo also close behind. Barambio repeatedly searched for an opportunity to overtake Cunha, but the Veloso Motorsport driver responded with determination, defending his lead and displaying the strong pace needed to prevent any change at the front. Patrick Cunha duly secured a thoroughly deserved victory, his first of the season, also setting the fastest lap at 1:48.587.
It was an especially satisfying triumph after he had lost second place almost on the finish line in Saturday’s Race 1 due to a technical problem. Alejandro Barambio finished second, adding another podium to a weekend of triumph. Third place eventually went to Tomas Slootweg, who claimed his first overall PSCI podium.
The AF Motorsport driver benefited from a penalty imposed on Miguel Lobo, who had been running among the top three but was relegated to seventh for failing to serve a drive-through penalty relating to track-limits infringements. The Ladies Cup also produced a particularly intense battle, with Flame Airikkala resisting repeated attacks from Francisca Queiroz.
The young Finnish driver finished an excellent fourth overall and took the Ladies Cup victory, while Kika completed the top five, securing second place in the women’s classification. Morten Stromsted once again demonstrated his competitiveness, finishing sixth overall and claiming his third consecutive Category 1 victory.
Race 4: Borja GarcÃa completes dream day as Fuset shines and Stromsted produces remarkable recovery
The final race of the weekend once again saw Borja Garcà a take centre stage, but there were plenty of other highlights, including excellent performances from Jordi Fuset, Chloe Grant and Morten Stromsted. Starting from pole position, Garcà a established himself at the front from the opening moments and never surrendered the lead, gradually building a 6.683-second advantage over Jordi Fuset.
The Valencian driver once again demonstrated superior pace, ending the race with the fastest lap of 1:47.772. Jordi Fuset made an excellent start, catching Chloe Grant by surprise and moving into second place within the opening metres. Driving the No. 25 Real Peñ a Motorista Vizcaya Porsche, the Spaniard once again confirmed the impressive form he has shown since making his PSCI debut at Jerez.
Unable to match the leader’s pace, Fuset managed his advantage over the chasing drivers to secure a highly deserved second place, further establishing himself among the championship’s leading contenders. Chloe Grant completed the overall podium, claiming her second podium of the day and another Ladies Cup victory. The young British AF Motorsport driver thus rounded off an outstanding weekend, demonstrating her ability to compete consistently for the leading positions in the overall classification.
Diego Carrascal Vega, in the No. 15 Porsche, delivered a solid and effective performance to finish a comfortable fourth. Although unable to close the gap to Grant, he maintained a healthy margin over the drivers behind him. The fight for fifth place was considerably more eventful, with Morten Stromsted at its centre. The Danish newcomer, driving the Club Deportivo Plemar Sport Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup, produced a remarkable recovery, overtaking several rivals and battling with Francisca Queiroz and Flame Airikkala. His efforts were rewarded with an excellent top-five finish and his fourth consecutive Category 1 victory.
Flame Airikkala finished sixth, securing second place in the Ladies Cup, while Francisca Queiroz was seventh overall and third in the women’s classification. Meanwhile, LuÃs Calheiros, who made his debut at this round in the No. 8 Veloso Motorsport Porsche, secured eighth place, while Mário Ferreira, representing RGB Racing Team, finished ninth as he continued his competitive development.
Navarra crowns the first champions and sets the stage for Estoril
Navarra once again demonstrated the championship’s competitive strength, with different race winners, intense battles for the lead and podium positions, an increasingly competitive Ladies Cup and the emergence of new contenders.
José Monroy, head of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibé rica, was highly positive in his assessment of the round: “We have once again demonstrated the competitiveness of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, with intense races, great battles and excitement right up to the chequered flag. We leave Navarra satisfied to see the championship growing ever stronger and with great expectations for the Grand Finale. We want Estoril to provide the stage for a memorable season finale, worthy of the passion, spectacle and prestige that the PSCI has been building.”
