The Portuguese-Luxembourgian driver imposed his own rules, resisting all attacks, especially those from Borja GarcÃa, who was ultimately disqualified. Manuel Alves moved up to second place, and José Barros completed the podium, which was entirely occupied by Category 2 drivers. Nuno Inocêncio won in Category 1, but Chloe Grant shone. Francisca Queiroz continues to shine in the Women’s Cup.
The fourth round of the 2021 Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica once again offered a spectacular performance at the Navarra Circuit in Los Arcos. Sprint Race 2 was marked by an intense battle for victory, with Dylan Pereira (AF & V Motorsport) imposing his experience and speed against the fierce opposition of Borja GarcÃa (GT Corse). The Portuguese-Luxembourgian driver started from pole position and held the lead for the first half of the race, but was never able to definitively break away from GarcÃa, who spun right into Pereira’s Porsche. The excitement reached its peak in the final straight, after a Full Course Yellow/Safety Car period regrouped the field. At the restart, Pereira resisted all of the Spaniard’s attacks and crossed the finish line in the lead, adding another victory to his already impressive season. However, Borja GarcÃa was penalized after the checkered flag, dropping to fifth place overall, and subsequently disqualified. The same happened to his teammate Asier Gorostiza and the RGB Racing car driven by Gian Traverson. The team appealed the decision, and qualifying was suspended. Manuel Alves (LOB Motorsport) moved up to second place, and José Barros (AF & V Motorsport) inherited third place, confirming a double podium finish for the Portuguese driver.
Category 1: Grant Surprises Inocêncio and Hernández
While victory had, as expected, gone to Nuno Inocêncio (Monteiros Competições) the day before, this time the championship leader’s triumph faced tough opposition. Chloe Grant was the star of the show. The young Scot drove a flawless race, overtaking Inocêncio midway through the race and nearly securing her first Category 1 victory, but suffered a problem on the final lap, relegating her to third in the category, still behind Pablo Hernández (Fenix Racing).
Women’s Cup: Queiroz Maintains Lead
In the Women’s Cup, Francisca Queiroz (LOB Motorsport) shined again. The Portuguese rider crossed the finish line in the top 10 overall and remained unbeaten throughout the weekend, further consolidating her lead. Behind her were Chloe Grant (who also shone in Category 1) and Canadian debutant Brieana Macdonald (Monteiros Competições), who once again demonstrated consistency and competitive pace.
