Daniel García Balboa confirms return to Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica

2025 GD class champion prepares for third season with RGB Motorsport.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica has begun announcing the first confirmed drivers for the 2026 season, and one of the early returns is that of Spanish driver Daniel García Balboa, the 2025 GD class champion. The Madrid-born driver will once again compete with RGB Motorsport, retaining the number 75 as he enters his third consecutive season in the championship. After a first adaptation season in 2024, García Balboa showed clear progression in 2025, securing several class victories and podium finishes that ultimately earned him the GD class title — the biggest achievement of his racing career so far.

A steady progression in motorsport

Daniel García Balboa’s motorsport journey has been characterised by steady and consistent progression. The Spanish driver entered competitive racing in an unusual way, making his debut at the age of 44 after several years participating in national and international trackdays with road cars across European circuits. His first competitive steps came in the Copa MINI, where he quickly achieved consistent results, including several fourth and fifth place finishes. Shortly afterwards he competed in rounds of the Spanish Championship, securing one of his early standout results with a second place finish at MotorLand Aragón. He then moved on to compete in the Campeonato de España de Resistencia, gaining valuable experience in touring car and endurance racing. In 2024, García Balboa competed in the CRT at the Circuito del Jarama, where he led the championship after six rounds before ultimately finishing the season as runner-up.

Consolidation in Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica

It was also in 2024 that the Spanish driver made his debut in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica. After a learning season in his first year, the 2025 campaign confirmed his competitive development, culminating in the GD class championship. Consistency has become one of the defining characteristics of the RGB Motorsport driver, particularly his ability to maintain a competitive pace throughout races and continue improving session after session.

Looking ahead to 2026, García Balboa aims to continue that progression and once again fight for the top positions in his category: “I started competing relatively late, and every season has been a step forward. In 2026 I want to keep improving, maintain my consistency and become faster and more competitive with every race. I’m very motivated for the new season and believe it can be a great one. The agreement between Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica and Media Capital is also excellent news for all of us. Having live race broadcasts and greater media exposure will significantly increase the visibility of the championship, the teams, the drivers and our sponsors.”

José Monroy, Series Manager of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, expressed his satisfaction with the Spanish driver’s return: “We are very pleased to see Daniel continuing with us. ‘Danny’ represents exactly the spirit we value in the championship: a dedicated, consistent driver who is always striving to improve. After an excellent 2025 season, where he secured the GD class title, he will certainly be one of the key contenders again in 2026. For us, it is extremely positive to have drivers who grow within the competition and contribute to strengthening both the quality and the competitive atmosphere of the grid.”

With Daniel García Balboa’s confirmation, the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica secures the presence of one of the leading drivers of the GD class for the upcoming season.

The Spanish driver’s continuation also reinforces the international diversity of the grid and sets the stage for another competitive season in one of the most dynamic Porsche one-make racing platforms in Southern Europe.
