The emotions and spectacularity of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica (PSCI) are back this coming weekend, this time at the Circuito de Navarra, in the Spanish Basque Country region, which it visits for the first time and again as part of the Racing Weekend programme, promoted by the RFEDA (Royal Spanish Automobile Federation), including three more championships. In this third round of the season, the main news against Motorland at the end of May is a return and a debut.
André Fernandes, one of the protagonists of the AM category, who had been absent the previous day, resumes the controls of the Porsche 991.2 number 82 of AF Motorsport, with the baptism of the Italian-Spanish Christine Giampaoli – better known as Christine GZ –, whose career has been centered on off-roading and Extreme E competition. Christine will share the Porsche 991.1 with Jorge Brioso and will be, due to her media exposure, one of the focuses of attention at Circuito dos Arcos.
On a sporting level, the duels for primacy in both the AM 991.2 and AM 991.1 categories are once again eagerly awaited, in which there are several protagonists, such as Ian Barrett, Ricardo Costa, Tiago Gonçalves and Nuno Inocêncio, among others, who have provided excellent races. The same happens, incidentally, in the GD category, with Chris Hillaby, Frank Barrett and Aloísio Monteiro standing out at the start of the season.
In the PRO-AM category, that of “consecrated” drivers and usual dominators of the first places at absolute level of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, there is a trio that promises to discuss each point in dispute until the end of the season, not least because Vasco Barros confesses that he still did not adapt 100% to the Porsche 991.2: Francisco Mora, Pedro Salvador and Manuel Alves. Mora leads and is 2 points ahead of Salvador and two points from him and four from the first is Alves, undoubtedly the great revelation of 2023. So, here comes another weekend of great uncertainty…
As happened in Motorland, the two races (Saturday and Sunday) will be transmitted in live streaming on the official Youtube page of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica.
