From India to Europe’s racetracks: Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica opens doors for the engineers of the future

The Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica welcomed the United Motorsports Academy (UMA) to its Circuito de Navarra round, an international project that is turning a passion for motorsport into genuine opportunities for education and professional development. Through its collaboration with RGB Racing Team, the initiative brings young Indian engineering talents closer to the demanding world of European motorsport competition.

Founded in India in 2023 by Omkar Rane, the United Motorsports Academy was established with an ambitious mission: to connect young students and engineers with international motorsport, providing an education that extends far beyond the classroom. In a country where enthusiasm for motorsport continues to grow, but access to major international competitions remains limited, UMA seeks to build bridges between academic talent and professional opportunities, enabling its students to gain knowledge, practical experience and valuable contacts in a highly demanding technical environment.

From academic education to life in the pit garages

One of the pillars of this initiative is the UMA Bootcamp, an intensive 18-day programme developed in collaboration with Spain’s RGB Racing Team. It allows participants to work directly with experienced professionals and gain insight into the technical processes involved in preparing and operating racing cars.

The Porsche 992 GT3 Cup cars play a central role in this experience, giving students the opportunity to explore, in a real-world setting, areas as diverse as trackside engineering, data analysis, chassis setup, mechanical preparation and team operations management. The programme combines theoretical education, specialist guidance and practical experience, aiming to prepare participants for the challenges of a professional career in motorsport.

The collaboration with RGB Racing Team has been instrumental in bringing these young talents closer to the realities of European racing, providing access to the equipment, working methods and professionals involved in international competition. More than simply observing, the objective is to understand processes, develop skills and acquire the ability to work in an environment where precision, quick decision- making and teamwork are essential.

Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica as a platform for opportunities

The presence of the United Motorsports Academy in Navarra strengthened a relationship that has already provided participants with valuable hands-on experiences at previous Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica rounds. The championship has become an important link between academic education and the realities of professional motorsport, allowing young people to gain first-hand insight into the organisation of an international racing competition, team operations and the technical demands of Porsche racing cars.

The results of this commitment are particularly significant. Former participants in UMA programmes have gone on to pursue opportunities in various areas of motorsport, including data engineering, vehicle preparation and technical support in Formula 4, GT and endurance racing competitions. It is precisely this ability to turn an educational experience into an opportunity for professional development that sets the project apart.

The Pursuit of Passion initiative, promoted by UMA, aims to take this mission further by overcoming the geographical and economic barriers that often prevent young talents from accessing major international motorsport competitions. Its objective is to create opportunities for learning, mentoring and professional integration, demonstrating that talent and a passion for motorsport know no borders.

José Monroy highlights the PSCI’s international and educational role

For José Monroy, head of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, welcoming the United Motorsports Academy to Navarra was a source of particular satisfaction: “It was a tremendous pleasure to welcome the United Motorsports Academy back to our paddock and give these young people direct exposure to the reality of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica. I would like to congratulate the academy on the magnificent work it is doing to educate and develop new talent, as well as RGB Racing Team for its partnership and fundamental contribution to making these experiences possible. We believe that motorsport also has a responsibility to open doors, share knowledge and create opportunities for future generations. It is extremely rewarding to know that the PSCI can be part of that journey and help turn these young people’s passion into a genuine professional career.”

UMA’s presence in Navarra once again demonstrated that the reach of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica extends beyond sporting results and the borders of the Iberian Peninsula. For young engineers aspiring to build a career in motorsport, every opportunity to enter a pit garage, follow a team’s work or understand the decisions that determine a Porsche’s performance can represent a decisive step forward. Because before there are great racing engineers, there are young people with talent, ambition and a passion that deserves the chance to find its way. And it is precisely that pathway that the United Motorsports Academy, RGB Racing Team and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica are helping to build.
