Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica deeply mourns the passing of Rui Miritta

Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica expresses its profound sorrow at the passing of Rui Miritta, one of the championship’s most beloved, charismatic and iconic drivers, whose connection with the series dates back to its very beginning.

A respected figure both on and off the track, Rui Miritta was part of the history of Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica from its inception, contributing to the growth and consolidation of a championship on which he left an unforgettable sporting and human legacy. Throughout his time in PSCI, Rui Miritta stood out for the passion with which he approached every race, his competitiveness behind the wheel and the genuine way he related to everyone in the paddock.

More than a rival on track, he was a teammate, a friend and a constant presence in building the family spirit that defines this championship. Champion of the 991.1 Group and the GD 991.1 Class in 2023, achievements he successfully repeated in 2024, Rui Miritta collected victories, podium finishes and many memorable moments in Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica. In 2025 he remained among the championship’s leading protagonists, once again demonstrating the consistency, determination and competitive spirit that always defined him, while entering the current season focused on fighting for further titles.

Above all, however, Rui Miritta will be remembered for the person he was. A fighter until the very end, he had a unique, genuine and captivating personality. His smile, his determination, his presence in the paddock and the passion with which he lived motorsport earned the admiration of everyone fortunate enough to share this journey with him.

Rui Miritta’s connection to the structure and spirit of Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica also went beyond the boundaries of the competition itself. Between 2022, 2023 and 2024, Rui took part three times in the 6 Hours of Abu Dhabi, teaming up with José Monroy in international experiences that strengthened bonds of friendship, complicity and respect that went far beyond the track.

In this moment of profound sadness, Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica extends its deepest condolences to Rui Miritta’s family, his friends, Monteiros Competições and to everyone, both inside and outside the paddock, who shares this tremendous loss. Rui Miritta will always be part of the history of Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica.
