After a highly competitive season opener in Monteblanco, the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica heads to the Estoril Circuit for Round 2 of the 2026 season, in a weekend where performance, strategy and adaptability will once again be pushed to the limit.
The historic Portuguese venue welcomes a grid composed of 14 cars and 21 drivers, representing seven teams and five nationalities, further reinforcing the international positioning of the championship organized by P21 Motorsport under the official Porsche Motorsport umbrella. On track, Category 2 — reserved for the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup — once again takes center stage with an extremely competitive and balanced field, where several drivers arrive in Estoril firmly positioned in the fight for victories and championship contention.
After sharing the wins in Monteblanco, José Barros (AF Motorsport) and Borja García (GT Corse) naturally emerge as the main favorites for this round. GT Corse once again fields one of the strongest line-ups on the grid, with Alejandro Barambio, Álvaro Bajo, Gildardo Herrera, Asier Gorostiza and Diego Carrascal reinforcing the collective strength of the Spanish team. The opposition promises to be intense. Beyond Barros with AF Motorsport, several other teams enter the equation in the fight for supremacy. LOB Motorsport once again combines youth and speed with Henrique Cruz and Duarte Camelo, while Portuguese- American driver Mário Reyford Ferreira returns with RGB Racing Team after a positive debut in Monteblanco, this time joined by returning driver Alexandre Fonseca.
Patrick Cunha and Jorge Rodrigues for Veloso Motorsport, João Macedo Silva and Filipe Carvalho for RGB Racing Team, Rui Miritta and Henk Van Zoest representing Skualo Competition, Pablo Hernández (Fenix Racing) and Kevin King and Tiago Madeira, making their debut for NACentE Racing, will further increase the competitiveness throughout the field, where gaps have remained extremely close.
The Ladies Cup will once again play a major role in the competitive landscape. Francisca “Kika” Queiroz (LOB Motorsport) arrives determined to continue fighting for victories, once again facing strong opposition from British driver Chloe Grant and Finnish driver Flame Airikkala, the AF Motorsport-supported duo in a female battle that continues to establish itself as one of the championship’s key storylines. In Category 1, reserved for Porsche 991.1 and 991.2 machinery, João Posser returns to the championship with Veloso Motorsport, aiming to capitalize on valuable points in a category where consistency and reliability will be crucial.
The competitive schedule maintains the intense format that defines the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica. Saturday includes two hours of adaptation practice, two free practice sessions and two 15-minute qualifying sessions. Sunday once again presents a particularly demanding format, with four Sprint races of 20 minutes plus one lap throughout the day — two with standing starts and two with rolling starts — creating a true test of physical, technical and strategic consistency for drivers and teams.
The round will also feature an open Pit Walk, strengthening the connection between fans, drivers and teams in a paddock where the competitive atmosphere coexists with the premium and lifestyle dimension provided by the VIP Village Lounge and championship partners. All races will be broadcast live on V+ TVI in free-to-air television, complemented by livestreaming on the championship’s digital platforms, ensuring broad media exposure for drivers, teams and sponsors.
For José Monroy, Series Manager of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, Estoril represents another important moment in the championship’s consolidation: “Monteblanco showed the competitive level we will have this season, and we believe Estoril can elevate that intensity even further. We have a very balanced grid, with fast drivers, strong teams and several battles open both overall and within the classes and Ladies Cup. At the same time, we continue strengthening the overall championship experience, both on and off the track, in an environment fully aligned with Porsche DNA.”
At one of the most iconic circuits in European motorsport, the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica is preparing for another weekend where competition, spectacle and premium experience coexist in an increasingly international and competitive environment.
