The Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica continues to reveal the drivers confirmed for the 2026 season and one of the returning names is Portuguese driver Rui Miritta, one of the most successful drivers in the history of the championship.
The driver will continue to compete with Monteiros Competições, driving a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup in a season where the clear objective is to once again fight for the GD class title.
One of PSCI’s historic protagonists
Present in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica since the championship’s inception, Rui Miritta quickly established himself as one of the most dominant drivers in the battles reserved for the Porsche 991. In 2023 he secured both the 991.1 Group and GD class titles, repeating the achievement in 2024 in a run of results marked by victories, multiple podium finishes and remarkable consistency throughout the championship.
In 2025, Miritta once again proved to be one of the key protagonists of the competition, adding further race wins and remaining in contention for both the Category 1 and GD class titles until the final rounds of the season, confirming his status as one of the most competitive drivers on the grid. Alongside his success in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, Rui Miritta has also achieved titles and notable results in other Iberian GT championships.
Renewed ambition for 2026
With a long-standing connection to the competition organised by P21 Motorsport, Rui Miritta approaches the 2026 season with renewed ambition and the clear objective of returning to the fight for victories: “We want to be fighting for victories and the GD title. I’m convinced the competition will be even stronger, but we are confident in our ability. I have been in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica since the very beginning and also competed in the previous GT3 Cup organised by P21 Motorsport, so I feel very much at home here. This year has everything to be the best yet, especially with the excellent work that is being done to give the championship even greater visibility.”
Continuity of one of the grid’s reference drivers The confirmation of Rui Miritta for the 2026 season reinforces the presence of one of the most consistent and competitive drivers in the recent history of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica.
José Monroy, Series Manager of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, highlighted the importance of Miritta’s continuation on the grid: “Rui is part of the history of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica. He has been with us since the beginning of the project and was one of the drivers who helped build the competitiveness and prestige of the championship. Over the years he has won titles, races and consistently demonstrated a very high level of performance. He is a highly respected driver in the paddock and his presence on the 2026 grid is excellent news for the championship, especially knowing that he returns with the ambition of fighting for the titles once again.”
With experience, titles and a deep knowledge of the competition, the Portuguese driver heads into the new season determined to once again challenge for the top positions and continue establishing himself as one of the reference drivers of the category.
