RGB Racing Team confirms Portuguese driver pairing for the 2026 Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica

Miguel Lobo returns to the championship alongside rookie Mário Reyford Ferreira.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica continues to reveal the drivers confirmed for the 2026 season, and one of the new entries on the grid will be the Portuguese pairing of Miguel Lobo and Mário Reyford Ferreira, who will compete with the RGB Racing Team.

The two drivers will share the wheel of a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, forming a line-up that combines the experience and speed of Miguel Lobo with the youth and competitive ambition of Mário Reyford Ferreira. Miguel Lobo has built his racing career primarily in Portuguese and Iberian circuit racing competitions. His journey began in karting before moving on to rallying, track- days and several one-make series, eventually establishing himself in circuit racing.

His first experience in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica came in 2023. Competing in the AM category, he took part in several races throughout the season, showing competitiveness and steady progress as he adapted to the car and to the championship format. Now, in 2026, Miguel Lobo returns to the series with renewed ambition: “I am very happy to return. I have always considered this the best one-make championship in the Iberian Peninsula and, now even more with the support of Media Capital, I believe the competition has gained even greater visibility. I will be joining a new team, RGB Racing Team, and will also have a new team-mate. For the first time I will be sharing the car with a driver with little experience, which I see as an opportunity to pass on some knowledge while also enjoying the experience even more. With the new scoring system in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, the objective is to fight for victories and try to win the championship.”

Alongside Miguel Lobo will be the young Mário Reyford Ferreira, who begins his first full season in competitive motorsport in 2026. Until now, his racing experience consists of his participation in the Grand Finale of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica 2025, held at the Autódromo do Estoril, where he had his first contact with the competitive environment of the series.

For the young Portuguese driver, the 2026 season represents an opportunity to learn and develop within one of the most competitive Porsche one-make championships in Southern Europe: “Stepping into the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica with RGB Racing marks my first full season in competitive racing. This season I am focused on building consistency, making the most of every session, learning everything I can and improving race by race. The goal is clear: grow, learn quickly and fight for strong results throughout the season.”

José Monroy, Series Manager of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica, welcomed the formation of this new Portuguese pairing for the 2026 grid: “It is very positive to see Portuguese drivers like Miguel returning to the Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica while also welcoming new talents such as Mário. This combination of experience and youth is something we value greatly on the grid. Miguel brings knowledge and competitiveness, while Mário begins what we hope will be a long and successful journey within our championship. We are confident they will form a very interesting pairing behind the wheel of the RGB Racing Team’s Porsche.”

The confirmation of Miguel Lobo and Mário Reyford Ferreira further strengthens the diversity of the 2026 Porsche Sprint Challenge Ibérica grid, combining the experience of a driver already accustomed to circuit racing with the ambition of a young rookie determined to progress rapidly in the world of motorsport.
